Who is John the Baptist?
The smallest figure in the cast, a newborn with a tiny tuft of dark hair and a peaceful round face. He is wrapped tightly from shoulders to feet in long bands of unbleached fine linen swaddling cloths, with no shoes or separate prop, always held safely in Elizabeth's or the elderly priest's arms.
