Who is King Herod?

A heavyset older king seated on a carved throne, with a wide gold-clasped cloak spreading around him. He wears an ornate purple-and-gold Roman-Hellenistic royal robe over a fine white linen tunic, gilded sandals, and a gold diadem on grey curled hair. His trimmed grey beard and narrowed suspicious eyes accompany a scepter and jeweled signet ring.
