The Widows

A diverse group of older Jewish and Hellenistic Jewish women in layered linen headscarves, ankle-length wool dresses, and faded shawls in clay, olive, ivory, and muted blue. Their faces are lined but dignified, their sandals plain, and their small clay bowls and bread baskets make a gentle communal silhouette. Some have silver-streaked hair visible at the brow.
