Hill of Moreh

The rounded hill on the north side of the Jezreel Valley, opposite Mount Gilboa, where the Midianite and Amalekite coalition camps before Gideon's night raid (Judges 7). From the Spring of Harod the Midianite tents lay "thick as locusts" across the valley floor and up the lower slopes of Moreh. The hill rises about five hundred meters above the surrounding valley and is identified with the modern Givat HaMoreh near Afula.
