About Spring of Harod
The spring at the foot of Mount Gilboa where Gideon assembles his army to face the Midianite host camped opposite on the Hill of Moreh (Judges 7). The Lord tells him the army is too large and sends home all who are afraid; from the ten thousand who remain Gideon brings them to the water and keeps only the three hundred who lap from cupped hands instead of kneeling to drink. The spring is identified with modern Ein Harod, where water still flows from the base of Gilboa into the Jezreel Valley.
