The land is in drought. King Ahab has led Israel into worshiping Baal, and the rain has stopped. God sends the prophet Elijah into hiding by a desert brook — and tells him the ravens will feed him there. Morning and evening, the black birds bring him bread and meat. When the brook dries up, Elijah is sent to a foreign widow with nothing but a handful of flour and a little oil. He asks her for the last meal in her house. She gives — and the jar of flour does not run out, and the jug of oil does not fail, for as long as the drought lasts. This is a comic about how God provides through the most unexpected couriers, including the ones who have the least.

Three years into the drought, Elijah challenges King Ahab to a contest on Mount Carmel. The 450 prophets of Baal will build an altar; Elijah will build one too. Each side will call on their god. The one who answers by fire is the real God. The prophets of Baal shout, dance, and cut themselves all day long. Nothing. Then Elijah drenches his altar with water — three times — and prays a quiet thirty-second prayer. Fire falls from heaven, consuming the offering, the wood, the stones, and the water in the trench. The people fall on their faces and shout, "Yahweh is God!" This comic captures one of the most dramatic showdowns in the Bible.
