Samuel is a small boy who lives in the temple at Shiloh, helping the old priest Eli. One night, three times in a row, he hears a voice calling his name. He thinks it is Eli — but Eli has not called him. Finally, the old priest realizes who is speaking, and teaches Samuel the words to answer: "Speak, for your servant hears." This is the moment a quiet boy becomes a prophet. The story shows kids that God can speak to anyone, at any age, and that the right response is not loudness or cleverness — it is listening.
