About this story

Caesar Augustus orders a census, and a young couple from Nazareth has to travel ninety miles south to Bethlehem. Mary is at the end of her pregnancy. They arrive late, the guest rooms are full, and the baby is born in a stable. His first cradle is a feeding trough wrapped in cloth. Out on the hills, shepherds — the people no one ever invites to anything — are suddenly surrounded by angels. "Good news of great joy for all people." They run to find the baby, and they are the first to spread the news that the Savior has come. This comic captures all the wonder of the most famous birth story in the world, told the way kids first hear it.
